I have an exciting update about the GM Playground Project. As many of you know, the GM playground was in need of some major work. The playground surface was in such bad shape that the after school kids were not allowed to play on the equipment because it was not up to proper code. This will not be an issue when the children return from Christmas break in January thanks to St. John's financial commitment. There are two phases to this project. Here is a summary of where we are on phase 1:
-On Wed. Dec. 17th and 18th, Rich Construction(Contracted by Howlett Equipment) removed the old rotten railroad ties that used to contain the pea gravel and began preparing the site for the new playground surface (wood chips).
-On Friday Dec. 19th, the wood chips were blown from a dump truck through the school and on to the playground for smoothing out after the new border timbers arrive.
-On Monday Dec. 22nd, the border timbers will be arriving and by Tuesday the playground surface should be completed.
Phase 2 of the project is the addition of some new equipment that was designed especially for Green Magnet by Jim Howlett of Howlett Equipment with input from Principal Beth Lackey.
Take a look at some pictures of the work that was done last week and a thank you stocking from one of the children.
More updates coming soon.
