Parishioner Dr. Patsy Boyce - Distinction and Honor Carson-Newman University's Honors Convocatio
As her Cathedral family, we know Patsy to have a servant’s heart. For years she has coordinated the Sunday morning Cookie Crew. Ever present for the children and youth at St. John’s, Patsy has been a faithful volunteer at Vacation Bible School for several years and travels to St. Ann’s in the Bronx for most of the Annual Mission Trips. Patsy’s volunteerism translated into her profession walk as well, and her passion for serving others was recently recognized at Carson-Newman University’s Honors Convocation where Patsy was presented with the University’s Community Service Award.
As a professor of biology Patsy also serves as chapter advisor to Beta Beta Beta, the National Biological Honor Society. Tri-Beta participates in many service projects in which Dr. Boyce is an integral part. She has also volunteered for mission trips to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Belize. In an article on the Carson -Newman website, University President Randall O’Brien said of Dr. Boyce, “[She] does these things above and beyond what is expected, or asked…showing others how to give selflessly as well.”
