St. John's Cathedral - A Community of Caring

January 5, 2017

Whether caring is extended to one another or out into the greater community around us, this parish family is full of people who give of themselves unconditionally and whole-heartedly. From the weekend before Thanksgiving and right up to Christmas time, we rallied in ways large and small to support our neighbors as well as honor our treasured family and friends and remember those we’ve lost.

The generous outpouring of donations to Second Harvest Food Bank was over $13,500. Since the pledge was made communally on the day all donations are doubled by a local donor, our total impact on hunger was better than $27,000!

As our inner-city school partner Green Magnet Academy begins a new semester, they do so with nearly $6,000 worth of supplies and teaching materials thanks to your gifts gathered through the Green Magnet Wish Tree.

Therefore, thanks also to those who gave their time and talents to decorating the Cathedral at Christmas this year under the faithful and capable leadership of Karen Gilbertson.

In 2017 may you and yours be blessed as you have so richly blessed others.
